Awesome Amp, small, powerful, and clean.

***Important Reminder, Please read this***After reading a few negative reviews of JL products, because of warranty concerns, I felt I should add this. JL will not warranty any of their products if they are not purchased from and authorized dealer, as far as online dealers there is about 6, you can check JL's website to find out which ones they are, but they all charge MSRP which will be higher than any of the prices you see here. If you want the pricing you see on here, you have to forgo the warranty, just be mindful of this.I got this model amp as part of a JL Stealthmod package for my Kia Soul, that includes 2 pairs of JL C2-650 coax's, and a stealthbox 12" sub. I was skeptical of it's size to power ratio, but man was I wrong.The XD500/3 gives you clean power with very little noise, even with it being fed high level/speaker level inputs, from my factory head unit. The XD line of amps allow you to wire your speaker level signal from your head unit right to a set of RCA's, without the need for a line output converter,which is great in and of itself, as it saves space, time and money. It is a class D amp, but should keep most A/B class fans happy.It's tiny compared to the power it puts out, 75 x2 @4 ohms + 300@2ohms or 180@4 ohm for a sub, yet is about the size of a mystery novel. My Kenwood is at about 60% gain compared to about 15% on the JL, and it still is not as loud, but I don't want my rear speakers to over power my fronts, and yes I used a test CD (1khz and 50hz @ 0db reference level) with a volt meter to set the gain properly.The amp has a great set of controls built in as well. It allows for summing on the sub channel, allowing you to feed all three channels with only one set of RCA's, and still allows separate sub level control from the HD-RLC knob. The main 1&2 channels has a variable crossover from 50-500hz as well as a 12db high pass filter. The sub channel has the same 50-500 hz , but with a selectable 12 or 24db low pass filter. It also has pre-outs that can feed another amp as well. The connectors for the speaker wires, power, ground etc., are the best connectors around. They use allen key set screw that doesn't require any type of connector, just a bare wire, and eliminates those god awful barrier strips with the little screws that strip or the spade terminals that never seem to fit.It runs cool as a cucumber, it literally gives off no heat! I have a plexi glass show window 2-3 inches above it and no worries about it getting even the least bit warm.Excellent all around amp, that has convinced me to upgrade to the 6 channel version XD600/6, which is only 2" wider than the 500/3, in order to run all 4 door speaker and sub, with JL sound and build quality. If you look on amazon & JL's site, as well as other sites, you will see that these amps get consistently high ratings and almost always five stars.I am not a pro installer or an audiophile, but I am a musician who likes great sound and has installed many car audio products over the years, and IMO these amps are a step above any other amp I can remember using. Powerful, clean sounding, compact, and very cool running, what else can you ask of an amp. They're fantastic, and I can't imagine anyone not loving these amps, so do yourself a favor and try one out, I think you'll be just as impressed.

small but decent power.

Nice for a small space and clean install. Would fit under a seat. Very easy setup with the crossovers. It is small.
