If you want the best
By STEVE STULL
I bought this amp to combine with a high end head unit and some good speakers. I still have no sub in my truck even though it is set up for one. With this amp my truck system rivals my home audio system, Ive been trying for 20 years to get this type of sound in a car or truck. Crystal clear highs and midranges, no back ground noise, this amp neither adds anything nor takes it away. Best amp Ive heard and Im now questioning if I even need a sub. Very clean and full sounding at normal levels or loud levels. Turn it down and the whole band is still there not as though 1/2 went to lunch. I listen to music from all eras and have not found anything that makes this amp strain.

Soundstream 4.760 4 channel car audio amplifier - Awesome
By Bailey28
In years past, Soundstream has made a name for itself as a high quality audio amplifier manufacturer. I was looking for a mid sized amplifier to power two 6.5" door speakers and a 10" subwoofer in my truck. The amp had to have lots of crossover options, especially for the subwoofer function. This amplifier will play as loud as any sane individual would want to inside of a vehicle and have power to spare. The sound is very clean, crisp and smooth, uncolored. The gains and other controls are easy to use once you read the manual. I have mine set up with the front two channels running the door speakers and the rear two running the sub. The amp is long (21") so you need to find room for it in your trunk or wherever you mount it. I built an amp rack on one side of the truck wall to mount it standing up.If you are looking for great sound, solid construction, and a super value, the SS reference amp should be looked at thoroughly. Really, after buying this larger 4.760, I could have gone with the 4.400 and saved a few bucks, but it is always nice to have the power. If I had to pick on it, I would suggest that they flare out/up the chassis mounting points a little in order to have some space behind/under the body so it can breathe better. I made two "bridges" that hold the amp up off of the board so air can circulate behind it better. I have had no issues with it overheating, or even getting hot but there are lots of vents on the bottom I did not want to block off.Overall I am extremely happy with the amplifier. It WILL power the 10" sub I have with ease.

Nice Amp!
By tlovesm
I installed this amp over the weekend and must say, I'm VERY impressed! First, the amp is HUGE and fairly heavy! It is REALLY solid. Second, it's beautiful! Third, it sounds really, really nice. I have it hooked up to 4v inputs with the gain about 1/2 way and it's PLENTY powerful. It runs warm, but no where near "too hot to touch." The music quality is very crisp and tight (once tuned) and I've enjoyed the few hours I've spent in my car so far. I owned a couple reference apps in the mid to late 90's and can tell you, they rocked! Honestly, this reference amp is just as good, if not, better! I was going to go with JL Audio, but for the price, this amp has them beat. Further, some of the specs are better, too (S/N Ratio, Damping Factor, etc). With this purchase, I've decided to buy another - REF1.500.Update - I'm now running JL Audio ZR650 Components off this amp using the active crossovers. I have the mids of channels 3 and 4 and the tweeters off channels 1 and 2. It sounds VERY good. I am not using the passive crossovers that came with the speakers. I did locate the tweeter crossovers/protectors online and am using those for the tweeters, but still have my highpass set at 4K on the amp for them. The amp is very clean (sound) and versatile...
