Great For First Amp

Did a lot of research on a good budget amp to buy for our bigger boat. (1989 Martinique) I chose this because it was made by Maxxsonics and heard good things about them. I also chose it because if you do the math, 13.8 volts X 50 amps = 690 Watts MAX. This amp has 2 25 amp fuses so thats the max it can pull plus its a A/B efficiency amp. So even less on the ACTUAL wattage. So for best result i picked the biggest amp Crunch made. This was $90 when I bought it along with a Pyle PLCD33MR. Using this amp to drive a pair of Kenwood KFC-6994ps speakers in the front and a pair of Kenwood KFC-415C. I know its no where near the greatest but for a $300 budget build Im more than happy with how this setup sounds. This amp has more than enough power to drive the KFC-6994PS speakers. Also has speaker level inputs which i am using cause i dint feel like messing around with speaker to rca adapter.Pros:Good weight to it, not light and feathery.Good Size and good heat dissipation.Controls are labeled well and work as should.Very clean speaker outputs.Cons:One big con! I ran 6 AWG to this amp from the battery in the back of the boat and i discovered when i went to hook it up that the main feed terminals are the SAME SIZE as the SPEAKER TERMINALS!!!! I had to cut down each 6 AWG wire to half the strand in order for the terminal to clamp down, luckily this wont affect the amperage as it is at the very of the cable but this should have been thought through more carefully.Other Thoughts:At first I had alternator whine when i first hooked it up. The amp got power from the battery and the radio got power through the dash which came straight off the alternator. Hooked the radio power to the amp power and voila! No more whine!This amp drives our speakers very well. And our alternator is only a 50amp alternator and we had the music cranked up while cruising without any distortion and the voltage gauge was getting pulled down along with the music especially when we some really good bass notes! But during that loud session this amp worked as it should, when we were done with the music we felt the amp and it was only warm to the touch on 85 degree day at Keuka Lake :DWill be making video of setup this spring when we get the boat back out.

I can't believe the price on these Amps. This is my 3rd Crunch Amp and these Amps Kick Butt. Loud and Clear. Love it.

Only had this for 2 or 3 months and it burned up. I wasn't even bumping either.So sad hope to get it replaced.
