Product Description
It has been over a decade since the Reference amplifiers graced the car industry. Car audio veterans loved them. New-schoolers have dreamed about them. Only the privileged have heard them! Improving on the best of anything requires new technologies and new applications. We are immensely proud to re-introduce you to the new Reference amplifiers. Not "dream" amplifiers that will never be seen, but a full line of the finest amplifiers that are available now! Reference amplifiers boast damping factors over 1000 and up to 3000+. That is up to, or more than 10 times, that of normal amplifiers! There has been a theory for many years that says that the human ear cannot hear the difference between amplifiers. Anybody who believes this obviously hasn't auditioned the long awaited return of the Reference amplifiers!

Best amp money can buy for SQ
By Gabriel Smith
I picked this amp up after doing a little research. I wanted the best sound quality amplifier I could get. I was either going to get a Focal amp or a Reference SoundStream. I almost ordered the Focal, but I kept reading that the Reference SoundStream amplifiers simply could not be beat. I wanted to think the Focal amp was the better choice because it costed twice as much, but I just kept seeing people praise the Reference series, so I finally got it. Well, when it showed up, I found out why people liked them so much. Taking it out of the box, everything is completely solid, solid, and solid. It's like a tank. The styling is the best I've seen--simple and clean! Every connection and switch is solid as a rock. I could tell the amp was great and I hadn't even hooked it up yet! The cross-overs are very adjustable, so you can bi-amp just about any component set. I finally got it hooked up. It takes 4 gauge power wires and can easily take my 10 gauge speaker wire. I have yet to try bi-amping, so for all my tests, I had 12 gauge wire going to the cross-overs on my Focal 130KP speaker set. With my Alpine CDA-117 head unit, professionally distributed CD are all I listen to. Listening to the amp, the clarity is the best I've heard. I could say that the treble is clean and the mid-range is full and warm, but that could be said about many amps. While the treble is clean and the mid-range is accurate, the timbre is flawless. The music is simply flawless in terms of tonality and distortion--that is, there is no distortion. Imaging is superb. I hadn't even done any serious work with my speakers to perfect the imaging, but the amp created an excellent sound-stage nonetheless. Staging is excellent. Piano, guitar and even snare drums have their own place on the dash in front of my listening position. I always put tweeters in the dash facing up. I used to make kick-panel enclosures, but you just can't get good staging with those setups. I should also say that I never used a subwoofer with these speakers--only because I have not purchased a sub amplifier yet. With the car off in the driveway, I can give my speakers the full frequency spectrum and they will not distort with this amp. The only distortion comes from my door panels because I have not deadened them yet. With a sub, I can't even imagine the sound-stage this amplifier could produce. This amplifier gets loud, as well--if that's your thing. And, it always runs cool, but most amplifiers do if you install them right... Bottom-line, this amplifier is the best I've felt, installed, and listened to. I would write this exact same review if this amplifier cost $400, or even $500. For $250? Just ridiculous.

Excellent amp
By Jane Westbrook
Impressive damping factor and dynamic range. Near studio quality sound reproduction. I cracked this amp open the day I got it and the construction is cleaner than that of a JL Audio amp. I have this pushing my front stage and rear fill in a 99' Jimmy and it does the job well, sounds great and clean even though I am only using coaxials. Highly recommended, you simply cannot beat the sound and construction quality for the price!

I bought a Soundstream Ref 1.500 amp here, on Amazon, and after being thouroghly satisfied with it I decided get the 4 channel 4.400 for my front & rear mids & highs. I've had it for a while now and all I can say is wow! This amp is amazing! Very clean sounding and powerful. Haven't been disappointed yet. If you want a great amp packed with features and high quality sound, this is the amp for you. I highly recommend it.
