Solid amp - impressed!
By Yoster
I've only been using this for a few days, but so far it's a rock solid amp. I ended up returning the BOSS AR1500M I had - simply not enough power.A note about these BOSS products - the ratings are WAY off. Does that mean they're a BAD product? Nope - it's just more or less up to you to determine power ratings. The BOSS AR1500M was putting out what I'm guessing was about 150-200 watts RMS at 2 ohms. This AR2500M I'm guessing is around 300-400 watts. More than sufficient for the two BOSS D10F subwoofers it's powering.I've been pleased with the build quality of this ARMOR unit. The logo on the top is a cheesy chrome-painted plastic badge, but the amp casing itself is a nice satin metal, almost looks like satin stainless steel. It looks really nice! The amp has all the basic feature's you'd expect. If you want some fancier features (like subsonic filters and whatnot,) then you'll want to step up to the digital ARMOR series amps (like the AR3500D) or go up a class to the Onyx line.I haven't tried the ARMOR digital amps yet, but like I said, extremely pleased with this AR2500M unit. I still need to check the thermal shutdown on it. I've pushed it HARD a few times at 2 ohms and it never shut off, but got VERY hot ('burn your hand if left on top of it' hot.) To be fair, I don't think I've ever owned an amp, other than maybe my old Avionixx, that hasn't gotten that hot while being pushed hard and running at the lowest impedance it's rated for. My other 2-channel amps get just as hot when running bridged or at 2 ohms and being pushed to the limits - a few shut off every now and again in the summer. Time will tell with this one. Like pretty much all amps, this one doesn't get hot at all when running at 4 ohms, so if you're getting it to run at 4, heat is a non-issue. I always recommend the lowest you can go though - might as well suck as much power from it as you can! If you're planning to use this to run 1 subwoofer, get either a 2ohm SVC or a 4ohm DVC so you can wire it at 2ohm to the amp.I'll update this review as time goes on if anything changes. So far impressed!

Amazing!

I love it! Gives plenty of power to my 2 10 inch subs! Only thing I have to complain about is it gets a little hot after awhile

Boss is coming up. They have come a long way from the junky products, but people still like to say that boss is a waste of time but that is soooo wrong! I just got this amp to run one lanzar(also a bashed company) 15" and bought a 100% coper amp 4aug power kit and it puts out clean powerful head buzzing bass you can hear a mile away. Everyone thinks I have like 2 15s untill I pop the trunk. The amp also arived like 3 days later! Very pleased, if you are looking to turn heads on a buget this is it!
