Pretty but flawed
By StereoInstaller1
What a great looking amp! Typical Taiwanese construction, excellent terminals, nicely laid out controls. The S/N ratio is a little noisy, but unless you listen to piano solos in an insanely quiet car you will never notice the tiny bit of hiss.I was very impressed with the dynamics of the sound though, very "punchy" (har-dee-harhar) and nice clarity. Vocals were nice and clean, cymbals properly shimmery...SQ was just fine all around. Bass guitar in particular was fun, full and fat.2 issues for this amp IMO, and the first is a truly glaring feature omission: the High Pass Filter is fixed at 80Hz. If you own one of the thousands of cars with a smaller front speaker (if your vehicle uses anything smaller than a full depth 6.5" driver up front) makes this amp a very poor choice, unless you plan an external crossover. That fixed 80Hz crossover might explain the "fat" midbass, but it certainly was not appreciated by the 5.25" speakers in the front of the BMW.The second issue is heat. This sleek looking amp does not have adequate heat dissipation IMO, especially if you plan on running a 4 ohm mono sub on half of the amp (my general "starter" setup). Likely you will need to do something about the heat issue, especially if the amp is enclosed in any way.Oddly enough, the larger mono amp that uses this same heatsink doesn't seem to have this issue, even on a 2 ohm mono load. This "Prime" series is terrific looking product with only a couple of tiny flaws, and priced very nicely.

outstanding quality for the price
By Martin Rojas Hacker
Don't waste your time looking for other brands. If you want the best quality and power for your car audio system, get ROCKFORD. I replaced my 600W sony 4 channel amplifier for this one, and let me tell you, there is no comparison. I connected 2 120 W sony speakers and bridged a 400 W Sony Subwoofer...the sound from the speaker is loud and clear (similar to what I was getting from the Sony amplifier)...But the sound that I'm getting from the subwoofer is just amazing - and its only halfway of the power (the whole car shakes when on)...I strongly recommend this product and wont never go back to brands like sony or pioneer for amplifiers

Extremely Happy w/ 6.1 Configuration
By Gift Recipient
I will share my own experience with this amp. I hooked it up today with all four speakers plus 2 tweeters into the front two channels and bridged my 12" Kicker into the rear channel. I was hesitant to even try this as I previously used two amps before they were stolen. Wow! My system is louder and clearer than it was previously with a JVC two channel powering my sub and an off-brand amp powering my in-cabin speakers. The configuration is ghetto and certainly not ideal, but it should give you an idea of how much power this puppy puts out to power an entirely after market rig and subwoofer with power to spare. This amp has made me a Rockford fan. I have never owned their gear before, but at this price point I could not be happier. One last note, I am not an audio engineer, just a lover of good sounding car audio on a budget. If you are the same than I cannot imagine anyone having any serious complaints about this amp.
