Excellent amp. Great Power. Even better price!
By bavSound
I was looking for a good 5-channel amp that had quality, clean power, looked good (not like something out of an Alien movie) and was easy on price - thus comes about the Planet Audio AC1800.5 This amp has perfect power, very easy to install (not sure what other reviewer had problems with) and overall just looks and works great! The connections are simple and easy to access. All inputs are on the left and outputs on the right. Good crossover adjustments and bass adjustments on the 5th channel. Depending on how and where you mount it, you might want to make all your adjustments before mounting and placing the end cap on - otherwise it's difficult to see the adjustment knobs and levels.

Very good amp but some minor tweaks are needed to run it...
By XtremeVette
So first off, this amp is very good. Excellent bang for the buck! The power it delivers is dead on considering the fuse rating it has. Here are the goods, the bads, and the ugly on the amp.THE GOODS: very good coating on it...nice and scratch resistant as Iam sure we have all bumped the screwdriver into a black amp before and marked it all up. This one has a good coating on it to prevent that. The amp delivers very nice clean sound and is plenty powerful.THE BADS: it does get warm to the touch...no doubt about it, but any amp with 75 amps pull is going to get warm. Does it keep as cool as say my Soundstream Rub5.8 when I ran it hard...no, definitely not. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the coolest and 10 being glowing hot red and that you better not touch it, I would rate this amp about 4-5. It's not super bad but something you should be aware of. The amp has no soft remote turn on section to it...(for this alone is why I didn't give it 5 stars). There is a noticeable pop/thump upon start up. If you get a soft remote turn on adapter for $10 or so and put it on the remote turn on lead coming out of the head unit, this problem should be solved. Going forward, I would like to see the next model come out with this feature as most amps today have this $10 feature built into them. I know I would be willing to pay an extra $10-$20 to see this built into the amp.THE UGLY: The amp is not a simply plug and play....many...if not ALL THE SETTINGS you will have to play with. On my amp, some of the settings and switches were even marked backwards and installed backwards! For example...the input sensitivity switches were incorrectly installed and marked incorrectly as well. My head unit puts out 4V but when I had the amp in the 2V-8V setting, you could barely hear much out of it. I changed it over to the 200mv-2V setting and boom...huge difference. As I mentioned the switches were also mounted backwards. The one for channel 1/2 would be marked 200mv-2V and that would be toggled left on the switch, but then channel 3/4 would be marked the opposite with the switch toggled to the right? So yeh...be aware of it.GAINS, GAINS, GAINS:!!! This amp apparently is super sensitive. My system running all top of the line equipment and RCA's was interference free and noise free when I had my other amp. Upon installing this amp, I got ground loop and alternator whine noise...BUT...after I played with it and turned my gains on the amp down to only 1/4 their full level setting, all noise was removed. So keep the gains low on this amp if you have a relatively new head unit like me! Even at only 1/4 gain, I was still able to crank this thing and it got plenty loud at just 22 out of 35 full volume on my Pioneer Head Unit. It still had plenty of room to go louder as well. No distortion either.Hope this helps and might clear up a few of the bad review left as I too myself at first was like WTF but after tweaking the amp...all is great.

VERY IMPRESSED
By TRACY B
I have been into car audio for about 22 yrs not professionally but for myself and quality listening. I was a little worried about this amp for the price. So here it goes I hooked it all up and wow this amp is amazing not good or great but amazing. If you want 1 amp to run your whole system here it is. I have a kicker L3 12 running at 4ohms for the sub.In the back deck 2 6x9 powerbass coax, in the front doors 6 3/4 powerbass components and two tweeters. I am only using the front 2 channels and the 5th channel for the subs it is shredding all of them. I seen reviews about the terminals and its not 1800 watts well here is the skinny on that. I was able to hook it up very easily no jimmy engineering to anything. It is a 5 channel amp 300 on each channel 4x300= 1200, 1 rear channel 600 watts so we are at1800 watts. So with that said I don't know if this is exact watts but it pushes very hard.If you would like to buy a good amp here it is.If your are in car audio competitions then you know that you can't go cheap so don't try. For the everyday ride or drive to and from work this is a stellar deal.So I hope this helps a lot of you guys that are looking to purchase a good quality amp for your whole system.
